About the London To The Max artists and performers

Simple Joy
SIMPLE JOY began as a duo of voices, guitar and harmonica in 2005, with Jim Johnston playing guitar and lead vocal and Carol Birchmore accompanying with vocal harmony and harmonica. The genre is popular folk in the style of Simon and Garfunkel and the Beatles, and the songs reflect a search for peace in a complex world. The musical portraits are engaging and sincere and listeners identify with the situations and dilemmas portrayed. Together they create a lively and dynamic performance with a wide variety of musical styles.

Lynn Devine
LYNN DEVINE has been singing for the joy of it solo as well as with others since a young age. She has performed in coffee houses, clubs, folk festivals, fund raisers, and house concerts since the 60's. The style and variety of her singing and guitar playing is evolving as she is trying her hand at traditional folk, country blues as well as some original material.

Roots Songstress Allison Brown
ALLISON BROWN likes her religion a little bit gritty, takes her country music with a side of syrup and keeps her folk as dusty as the ol' cabin floor. With a hatful of broken hearts, bad weather, toils of the road and leaps of faith, Allison's crafted originals matched with classic roots repertoire reflect the striking conviction she brings to her sweet and powerful singing. Allison brings her truest self to her collection of songs and to the stage in a refreshing conversation with the audience.
Sharon Bee
SHARON BEE is a singer-songwriter, a classically trained pianist, an award winning composer, a piano teacher and a Church music director (Hyatt Avenue United Church). She has performed at many venues and festivals, composed the music & lyrics for three complete musicals (as well as incidental music for several plays), and has developed the music for a series of radio plays being produced out of Halifax. In between these activities, she writes her own music and lyrics - her first CD was released in the summer of 2004 and a second CD in 2010 with music from the radio play Old Wounds.
Luke Harris
LUKE HARRIS is 16 years old and is a student at Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School. Luke takes the drama course at Banting and particularly likes doing mime.

Julia Webb
JULIA WEBB has performed in numerous theatrical productions and was nominated this year for a Brickenden award for the role of Prospero in The Tempest. Her musical career has been varied; in her teens, she played the bar circuit with a folky/rocky trio, then sang lead for the alt/rock groupWhite Picket Frenzy. Julia has recently enjoyed performing in musical theatre and singing with the Wassail choir. Nowadays, most joyfully, she gets to make music with the wonderful Jake Levesque.

U-Turn
The band U-turn features five grade 7 students from Lester B. Pearson School for the Arts-Ben Berardini, Willem Cowan, John Fellner, Aidan Wasse and Keegan Marshall. The band was formed in late 2007. They play original rock compostions and a mix of classic rock covers. They have opened for such bands as: the Mudmen, the Joys, and Inward Eye.They have performed at London's Rib Fest, Gathering on the Green, and been involved with Rock for our Future.
